Polimglass® was invented in 1992 by
Imac s.p.a., the first company worldwide
to produce roofing sheets made of a synthetic layered material produced by "co-extrusion".
Tecno Imac s.p.a., which took over from
Imac in 1999, has also developed the technology to produce Polimglass®, and as such,
has increased its performance even further.
Polimglass® is created by converging
different types of thermal-plastic material
which are prepared in three different
extrusions into a single extrusion.
The result of this is a single thin sheet which
is stratified in three separate layers.
Each of these layers has its own specific
characteristics studied to accomplish
a specified function:
•
upper methacrylate layer:
a barrier against ultra-violet rays, sheet
colouring, resistance to atmospheric agents
and all types of chemical agression.
•
central additivated layer with
aggregate: reduction of linear heat
expansion, mechanical resistance
and noise reduction.
•
lower elastic compound layer:
elasticity, resistance to breakage, protection
of the lower part of the sheet from all types
of chemical aggression.
The result of this particular combination
of thermal-plastic materials is a roofing
or wall sheet, which can be applied in any
environmental circumstances, without fear
of any type of attack by acid vapours, be it
industrial or agricultural, or the most
destructive of saline fog.
